Bringing together UK clinical expertise with local accessibility, we provide comprehensive, evidence-based neurodevelopmental assessments for children, adolescents and adults living in Spain.

Our assessments are led by an experienced multidisciplinary team with extensive expertise in Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD). We are proud to offer the same high standard of assessment that has supported individuals and families across the United Kingdom and the United Arab Emirates.

Through our partnership with Shine, families across Andalucía can now access trusted, high-quality Autism and ADHD assessments delivered by experienced UK clinicians, without the need to travel abroad. Our aim is to provide timely, compassionate and comprehensive assessments that empower individuals, families and professionals with the understanding and recommendations needed to access the right support and achieve the best possible outcomes.

Katie Smith MSc – Specialist Speech and Language TherapistKatie Smith is a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist, Director and Head of Speech and Language Therapy at Shine Child Development on the Costa del Sol, Spain.Katie qualified as a Speech and Language Therapist from University College London (UCL) in 2007, following an undergraduate degree in Linguistics.

She has almost 20 years of experience supporting children and young people with a wide range of speech, language, communication and developmental needs, including extensive experience working with autistic and neurodivergent children and young people.Prior to moving to Spain in 2017, Katie worked for 10 years within the NHS and privately in the UK, including within specialist provision supporting children with additional needs. She has experience working across clinical, educational and home settings and works closely with families, schools and multidisciplinary professionals to build a comprehensive understanding of each child’s communication profile.

Katie is registered with the UK Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) and is a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT). She has undertaken additional professional training including Hanen, Parent Child Interaction (PCI), Makaton, PECS, AAC and other specialist approaches.As part of the Autism assessment pathway with Gold Standard Psychological Assessments and Shine Child Development, Katie contributes specialist Speech and Language Therapy expertise to help develop a rounded understanding of a child or young person’s communication, interaction, strengths and support needs.Katie is passionate about evidence-based, child-centred practice and ensuring that assessment leads to meaningful recommendations that can make a practical difference to children and their families.
