Alex Ardern, MSc
Speech and Language Therapist
Alex is a Senior HCPC-registered Speech and Language Therapist and a member of the Royal College of Speech and Language Therapists (RCSLT), qualifying in 2021. Since then, she has worked within NHS community services supporting children with speech, language and communication needs before moving into specialist school settings, where she works predominantly with neurodivergent children.
Alex is SCERTS trained, has completed Makaton training to Enhanced Level, and is currently undertaking further professional development in selective mutism. She has a particular passion for supporting non-speaking and minimally speaking children to find a communication system that works for them through Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC).
She takes a neurodiversity-affirming, child-centred approach, working collaboratively with families, schools and multidisciplinary teams to create meaningful opportunities for communication. Alex is passionate about supporting connection through communication and believes that every child deserves to be understood, helping each child develop a way to communicate that is meaningful, effective and authentic to them.
Alex is a part of the MDT team for Autism assesments and is available for follow up and speech and language sessions with patients.
